Description
Though often unrecognized, complex trauma as a result of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) is common among our students. Becoming a school with a trauma-sensitive environment requires attention to at least two critical elements - reducing stress and improving relationships. We can do these things without ever knowing which students have been most impacted by trauma. If we do these things, we can improve attendance, enhance learning, and support all students' AND staff's physical and mental health. Participants will receive an overview of the ACEs research followed by the evidence for focusing on stress and relationships, and highlighting some of the many evidence-based and promising strategies to do so.
