This event is limited to Olympia School District staff.

This event will be a book study with 5 hours of independent reading and a one hour of group discussion.  The intended participants are elementary school staff including teachers, paraeducators, special education staff and administrators,  Attendees may be paid for their time by using self or principal directed staff development hours.  

January 5-11  independently read the book "Classroom Instruction That Works with English Language Learners" by Jane Hill (books provided by EL program)


Event Notes

Objectives of this class:  Participants will learn practical, research-based strategies to support language development for ELLS and non ELLS .  Participants will learn accommodations that keep  language from being a barrier to classroom instruction.  Participants will learn how to make the classroom instruction more effective and comprehensible to all students.
