Description
The Professional Learning Community (PLC) is designed to inspire and equip highly capable program coordinators to establish a robust statewide network focused on enhancing gifted education. By fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and implementing effective strategies, this monthly network aims to significantly elevate the quality of education for gifted learners across the state.
NAGC 2019 Programming Standards:The PLC aligns with the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) 2019 Programming Standards, which emphasize the following key areas:
- Programming: explore services that offer a variety of programming and learning options from around the state that enhance student performance in cognitive and affective areas
- Curriculum and Instruction: Promote differentiated instruction that meets the diverse needs of advanced learners and fosters critical and creative thinking.
- Assessment: Encourage the use of assessment strategies to inform instruction and measure student growth effectively.
- Social and Emotional Development: Address the unique social and emotional needs of advanced learners through targeted support and resources.
- Professional Development: Highlight the importance of ongoing professional development for educators to stay informed about best practices in gifted education.
By participating in this PLC, program coordinators will be empowered to create and sustain a thriving professional learning community, ultimately leading to improved outcomes for advanced learners statewide.
