Description
Description
Course Description: School-Based Occupational and Physical Therapists are required to support the needs of students whose disabilities interfere with their development and function in schools. Professional Development is required to maintain licensure and to ensure students are receiving therapy based on best practices and evidence-based research.
Purpose: The purpose of this meeting is to facilitate meaningful collaboration and professional development opportunities for Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists who provide services within school districts across our ESD. Professional Development will include Collaboration with other motor therapists. We will also learn from special presenters and members of NCESD and the NCESD motor team.
Need: OTs and PTs will have the ability to purchase clock hours through the ESD for this course. OTs and PTs are required to obtain clock hours/CEUs. Also, many OTs and PTs across our ESD do not have many opportunities to collaborate with other professionals in their field. This meeting will allow for the opportunity to learn from our colleagues.
Outcomes: In addition to obtaining clock hours/CEUs necessary to maintain certification/licensure, OTs and PTs will have a better understanding of the following:
- Learn from other motor therapists and special presenters
- Hands-on training
- Gaining perspective and wisdom in the field of educational motor therapy through collaboration with other motor therapists
