Description
Explore new research ideas on mathematics learning and student mindsets that can transform students' experiences with mathematics. Whether a participant is a teacher preparing to implement Common Core State Standards, parents wanting to give their children the best mathematics start in life, or an administrator wanting to know ways to encourage mathematics teachers, this course can help. The sessions are all interactive and include various thinking tasks to promote active engagement (e.g., reflecting on videos, designing lessons, and discussing ideas with peers).
Participants Will Learn:
● New pedagogical strategies;
● An understanding of high quality mathematics tasks;
● Questions to promote understanding;
● Messages to give students; and
● Inspirational messages from educational thought-leaders.
Course Structure
The course comprises of 8 sessions, each with videos and activities that require approximately 1.5 to 3 hours each to complete.

This course is hosted by the Stanford Graduate School of Education and is approved for Washington State Clock Hours through ESD 112. The course fee is $99, payable to Stanford Graduate School of Education. This course will available online until June 30, 2021.
