This  four-hour professional learning opportunity is for instructional paraeducators, K-12.  Participants will deepen their understanding of the Fundamental Course of Study (FCS) requirements, specifically including 4 of the required 28 units of study hours that align with the FCS learning objectives.

Objectives:

To more deeply understand the requirements for meeting the Fundamental Course of Study requirements and what their responsibilities are for monitoring their hours

To be able to gain knowledge and skills aligned to the FCS and meet applicable para educator standards

To more deeply understand what will be required to obtain the General Paraeducator Certificate, Subject Matter Certificates (ELL and SPED) and Advanced Paraeducator Certificate

To gain knowledge of a variety of best practice teaching strategies that address cultural diversity and how to apply them.
