Description
This professional learning day is geared for preschool through higher education professionals dedicated to growing Mathematical Mindsets in their classrooms, buildings, and districts. Participants will link research, classroom practice, and planning that are transformative in students’ experiences in math. Educators focused on equity in math classrooms will engage in authentic, deep math learning. This day is interactive and includes various mathematically visual thinking tasks, short video clips, lesson design and how to continue student growth in math(s) after the initial Mathematical Mindsets foundations has been explored and implementation has begun. Objectives:
1) Learn the latest brain research and the implications for student learning.
2) Learn pedagogical strategies.
3) Develop a clear understanding of rich tasks and rich implementation of tasks.
4) Learn how to question student to develop and sustain rich mathematical discourse.
5) Explore strategies for implementing and building Mathematical Mindsets.
