2017 STRENGTHENING SCHOOL SAFETY (S3) IN PUGET SOUND

Description
Strengthening School Safety (S3): Collaboration is Key is a two day School Safety Summit for public, private and tribal school and district staff supporting school safety with emphasis on school administrators, office managers, School Resource Officers and community partners.
Multiple workshops and keynotes will be offered, including:
* Continuing Operations and Emergency Operations Plans
* Incident Command System (ICS 100/200/700)
* Rapid Responder
* Engaging the Community in Active Shooter Drills
* Collaborative Security Site Assessments
* Triage
* Reunification Plans
* Table Top Drills
* Overview of School Safety Laws and Trends
Clock hours will be available.
Registration Cost: Non Cooperative Members $125 per day or $230 for both days
PSESD Safety Cooperative members are guaranteed space for 1-4 members at no cost (depending on service tier) if registered by 7/24/17; 5+ person or registrations received after 7/24/17 are 20% off.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER DAY 1:
Shots Fired (OneNet): A short documentary about courage, communication, and resilience in the face of a school shooting. Followed by panel & tabletop.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER DAY 2:
Collaboration Equals Success! Pierce County K-12 Workgroup Panel Presentation: Participants from PIERCE COUNTY's K12 Workgroup will share their nationally recognized model of collaboration across ER systems.
AUGUST 1ST SPEAKERS:
Mike Donlin is the Program Supervisor for the School Safety Center of the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Barbara Thurman has a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Puget Sound School of Law. She is a FEMA IC/NIMS and All Hazard Safety Workshop for Schools instructor for WA State Emergency Management and OSPI. She has developed numerous emergency preparation materials used nationally and locally.
