USDA Foods Show - Western Washington
Description
OSPI Child Nutrition Services (CNS), the Puget Sound Joint Purchasing Cooperative (PSJPC), and the Spokane Cooperative are hosting a USDA Foods Show for Washington state sponsors of school meal programs. The Food show will include education sessions on a variety of topics relevant to anyone who orders USDA Foods, and a vendor floor where you can sample foods available for order. This event is the first of two opportunities to attend.

Panel Discussion: All Attendees Panel Discussion of Directors | Hear from Food Service Directors about their strategies for optimizing use of USDA Foods. Topics covered include effective use of entitlement, ordering, and other best practices. |
Education Session: Beginners USDA Foods 101 | Covers basic information about entitlement for newer food service directors. Topics will include common terminology, review of USDA food program options, help with decision making about direct delivery or diversion. |
Education Session: Advanced Option 1: More Bang for Your Buck: Getting the Most Out of Your Entitlement Dollars Option 2: From Calculator to Kitchen: Navigating a Full Diversion Cycle | Option 1: Review strategies to help take your entitlement spending to the next level. This session will cover advanced entitlement spending strategies such as comparing costs of state products to commercially available products, and tracking and managing unexpected changes. We will consider examples of how to approach spending entitlement wisely. Option 2: Learn the art of strategic planning and resource utilization in USDA commodity processing. This session will cover the use of commodity calculators, making adjustments, and implementing tried-and-true strategies for optimizing center-of-the-plate items. |
