This BEST Extended Learning course is intended for school nurse mentor development. Course curriculum focuses on building mentoring skills in school nursing standards, frameworks, and mentee support using didactic content, scenarios, and tools. 

Pre-requisites: This course has pre-requisites for school nurses who plan to serve as a school nurse mentor at a school district that participates in the BEST program. Pre-requisite course options: OSPI BEST Mentor Academy 101 (2 sessions) or Nakia Academy.   

All Other School Nurses: While not every school nurse plans to serve as an OSPI BEST Mentor for a school district, the course content applies to any school nurse interested in developing mentoring skills, and all are welcome to enroll. For these nurses, there are no pre-requisites.

Beginning Educator Support Team (BEST) supports novice school nurses in WA State through school nurse mentoring, an element of comprehensive induction, and through the development and support of school nurse mentors. The student-centered goal is to improve equitable access to high-quality education for all WA State students through novice school nurse retention and support.
