This course is only open to K-12 Washington educators currently employed by a Washington school district. Private school educators whose school has opted into Federal Title III services may also take this course. Contact your school administrator for details.

This workshop is designed for educators who teach mathematics or support English language development in mathematics.  This workshop will focus on recognizing and designing mathematics instruction that simultaneously strengthens both mathematical reasoning and language development for multilingual learners. 

During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the benefits of giving students mathematics tasks to solve together and time to exchange ideas about their reasoning as well as how to find and insert reasoning activities into mathematics units. Participants will see and have opportunities to plan ways to support multilingual learners in becoming increasingly effective as they use language to express their own ideas and co-construct ideas with others.

1. Use your district email address and email WIDA Client Services Center at help@wida.us and request a WIDA Secure Portal account.
2. WIDA will send you an access link within 24 hours. Set up your login username and password.
3. Access the WIDA Secure Portal.
4. Select the “Professional Learning” path.
5. Scroll to the Self-Paced Workshop tile and click on the course link 
6. Select the course and begin.

Get clock hours:

1. To receive clock hours, participants must fulfil the time requirements of the course.  1 hour of "active participation" equals one clock hour. 
2. Clock hours will not be awarded for less than 1 hour of time spent actively participating in the course as per WAC 181-85-030. No exceptions will be made.
3. Upon course completion, fill out the course survey in pdEnroller: Login to your pdEnroller account, go to your Events, click on this event, then go to the Clock Hour Checklist and take the survey. 
4. OSPI will download course completion reports from the WIDA Secure Portal to verify course completion and time spent actively participating in the course.    
5. Clock hours will be approved quarterly.  Pay attention to when you complete the course.  No exceptions will be made.
